| A while back there use to be a quest on pwo for the saffron to goldenrod city train. I was the original writer of that quest. At the time i was told to make the quest long, and somewhat challenging. On top of that the quest engine was really limited. Because of those two factors the quest was too hard for many people and there was tons of complaints about it. (yes, i did use to be an offical quest writer by the way) Anyways enjoy the original concept: - Spoiler:
Train – saffron to Goldenrod city
Items needed for quest: Need 8 badges
Empty Bottle
Saffron to goldenrod ticket – need this to talk to any npcs that takes place in part 2 or 3. (to stop battling prior to the event)
Thunder stone Fire stone Water stone
Piece of wood Clay Square
Storyline: Part one:
Player talks to NPC outside the Silph Co. building:
“Silph Co. is testing our new rail system right now. Its under closed testing so the only way you can ride it at this point in time is if you get permission from the company owner.”
Player locates the owner in a house S.E corner of saffron
Owner “ What am I going to do?. !!!. Hello you seem like you the kind of person that would be willing to help a old man like me? My daughters birthday is coming up and has asked for 3 evolution stones so she can evolve her eevees. However I am not sure what stones she needs to evolve her eevees. Can you please show me the stones I need? Hey I know if you can I will give you a free life time Saffron - Goldenrod train pass”
Player then goes out purchases a water stone, thunder stone, and fire stone.
Owner “So thats what I need. Well as promise here is the train ticket”
Part one done.
Part 2:
Player talks to the npc guarding the building: “Hey I see you have been given a train ticket, please come on in”
Upon entering the building and going to the train have to talk to the npc “I'm so sorry but right now our conductor has fallen ill so there will be no departures til he gets better. Someone in celadon is currently making up a remedy to help him get better soon. If you like you could visit her to see how the progress is going.”
Upon talking to an npc in one of the celadon houses: “How could this have happened?! I'm sorry to bother you, but the medicine I had made for the train conductor in saffron was stolen from me. The medicine was in a glass bottle. It just happen so they couldn't have gotten to far.” (hint that one is in the same city)
Retrieving the first batch
~ Find the npc upper part of celadon behind the building where you get eevee in the original games
Burglar Chad “Why would Jonny want to poison Kangaskhan with this stuff when it will get millions on the black market”
battles... pokes: lvl 42 koffing, lvl 45 weezing 48 crobat,
Burglar Chad “Too bad for you, I'm not the one with the bottle.”
Player then goes to zone 4 of safari zone to find Burglar Jonny
Burglar Jonny “I don't know why Garcia went through that tunnel. These Kangaskhan are going to make a fortune”(hint next bugler is headed to cinnabar)
Battles.... 44 nidorino, 46 nidorina, 50 Kangaskhan
Burglar Jonny “ Fine no fortune for me, also no bottle for you.”
Player then has to go and locate Burglar Garcia in cinnabar tunnel.
Burglar Garcia “Shoot, I should have taken that ferry with Takashi after all”(hints last burglar took ferry to pallet from cinnabar)
battles... 45 Houndour, 46 slugma, 47 growlithe, 49 murkrow
Burglar Garcia “Sorry kiddo, but I don't have the bottle either”
Player finds npc on route 1 Burglar Takashi “ I was so close to the base...”
Battles... 47 rhyhorn. 49 dugtrio, 50 pupitar, 52 golem
Burglar Takashi “My plans have been ruined. Not because of you, but because I grab an empty bottle!” Player receive Empty glass bottle
Player talks to the medic(who checks to see if you have the bottle) Your back! While you was away I discovered the burglars took the wrong bottle because I found the right bottle in my medicine bag. I already took it to the saffron to the conductor so he should be better by now.
Upon talking to the npc at the station again: “That medicine works wonders, feel free to ride the train”
Part 2 done
Part 3:
Upon exiting the train, player walks through a construction looking building
Upon talking to the npc in front of the train station: “Currently the building is under construction. I'm not allowed to let you in without permission. Feel free to talk to my supervisors, he lives in one of these houses around here”
Talk to a NPC in one of the houses
Engineer Rick “ I see that you have been given a train ticket from saffron. If you can pickup some supplies for me I will give you permission to be able to take the train back anytime you please. Meet with a guy name bob on route 45 he should have the supplies I ordered.
Player has to locate “Bob the Builder” on route 45. "So you was sent here to get the supplies Rick order? I will give them too you, but you will have to battle me first”
Pokes : lvl 45 Tyrogue, 48 gravler, 50 machoke, 54 machamp Recieves Peice of wood and Clay Square
Talk to Bob again win or lose “Wow that was a great match, here you go”
Player talks to engineer Rick again “I see you have braught back the supplies I order, feel free to use the goldenrod train station whenever you please”
Upon talking to the train station npc again (checks for the supplies non verbally) “I see you have been given permission feel free to go inside” player goes inside
Player talks to npc in front of the train
“Would you like to take the train to saffron for $10000?
yes/no option
Quest over.
As for what the npcs say if you dont have the ticket from the owner -
Healer “i can't believe hes sick again” Burglars “leave me alone you pesky kid” NPC in front of goldenrod train station “I hope they finish this soon” Engineer Rick “Can't be bothered right now” Bob the Builder “ Watch out kid, I'm trying to work here”
What the healer says if you don't have the empty bottle: healer: Please hurry and get it back.

| WOW durnam I had no idea you used to be part of the QW team, and thats like one of my biggest and highest hopes for pwo! this was a great quest, and if you say this was real I bet it was totally awesome. It seems like a good quest and it appears very usefull to players as well. My question is what happened? did u quit the team? | |

Well air, it was complicated. 3 people were chosen to be questwriters by the old questwriter leader, bigboy. However shortly after we were chosen, he disappeared. Then the other 2 questwriters vanished. So i was the only person left in the group. I was given that assignment and worked with arenya and nee on it. However the gms put another quest into the game, that i wasnt even aware of, and there was nothing happening with the questwriters group because the staff was waiting on the new npc script engine, xan was writing. In the meantime i had to beg multiple times to get the questwriter section open for regular members to put their ideas in, on top of i always got pms on how to join the questwriters group and people asking me to judge their quest, i decided more or less that the staff didnt really function to my liking to me want to have to work with them, and with the uncertainty of the group, i may as well just leave. 4 or so months latter, the group was started up again, and i didn't feel like writing more quests with as busy as i was and never re-applied. | |

| It must have been a lot of responsbiloty, being the only one to be accountable for such a task. I kinda feel bad that you lost interest in it so fast. On a brighter note all this is so hard to believe, I feel liek im watching the history channel xD | |
