| A little while ago I asked numerous communities, including Team Dramander, for help in deciding on a new name for Gamerpedia - the free content Wiki Encyclopaedia for Games around the Globe - and despite a slow start, I eventually received a fair number of suggestions. After spending time analysing and judging each suggestion for domain availability, fitness for purpose, branding originality and personal satisfaction, I narrowed the suggestions to a short list of three; of which both myself and my sponsors finally agreed to name Gamescodex the winner. I am now pleased to announce that Gamescodex has been officially launched and a brand new domain acquired for the site - and it now has a new home of www.gamescodex.net/wiki/ - and even better, all the existing articles and user accounts have been preserved! This means if you were already a Gamerpedia member, you are now a Gamescodex member; and all your articles are still there to be enjoyed. For those who didn't know or have forgotten, Gamescodex is my - and to a lesser extent, WPS Interactive Inc's - attempt to create "a human-editable free content Encyclopaedia project, geared towards sharing information about games and gaming-related topics from all genres and cultures all around the World". Not just videogames, either - if it's a game in any form, we want it on the site. Put simply, Gamescodex is just like Wikipedia, but specifically for Games. We aim to offer detailed, high-quality articles that anyone can read and contribute towards; and hopefully become the go-to place for anything you need to know about games and gaming, and possibly even rival other online Encyclopaedia projects in quality and detail. We even accept Strategy Guides! A more detailed explanation of the site can be found in the thread: Gamescodex - The free content Wiki Encyclopedia for Games. As part of the relaunch, I will be looking for a brand new logo to be designed to feature as the official emblem for Gamescodex. This logo will need to include an image that evokes the idea of writing about games (but should NOT infer a purely video-game link); and must have the name Gamescodex clearly written on it. Ideally I'd like two logos, one made to fit within a 350x50px limit and one with a 135px width but no height limit (although it should look somewhat squarish); but you can just do one or the other if you like. I hope you all come to visit the revamped website some time; and perhaps even contribute your own knowledge in your free time to help the site grow.

[color=orange]But that would open the door to have an article about EVERY Pokemon. Is that necessary for Gamerpedia Gamescodex? I don't see why not - it's an encyclopaedia for ALL gaming information; and there's articles for Pikachu and Mario there so it's not like there isn't already prior precedence.

| Hey Mac - I saw you wrote an article called "The Quiet Game", which was pretty informative and neat - I've never even heard of it before. However, you totally screwed up in adding references to the article, so I thought I'd help out. For the help of all future editors: Gamescodex actually has built-in References support, for when you want to back up a claim in an article with sources to support it - and you are encouraged to do so wherever you can. To put a reference in, just include the reference after the statement it refers to, and surround it in tags. When you have references in an article, you just put where you want the list of them to appear. This must be in the article though, or any references used won't work. That's all there is to it. So here's an example article: - Code:
-
== Wikipedia == Wikipedia is the largest encyclopedia on the internet.<ref>Wikipedia [http://www.wikipedia.org]</ref>
=== References === <references /> This would come out as: WikipediaWikipedia is the largest encyclopedia on the internet. [1]References1. Wikipedia http://www.wikipedia.orgNote that if using the Rich Text Editor, you can also just click the buttons labelled " " and ""
Also note that to make links to other sites, you just enclose the link in square brackets - or if you want to name the link, then it's link, a space, then the name. e.g. [https://dramanderguild.forumotion.com/ Dramander Guild] for Dramander Guild.
I'm pretty sure all this is covered in the on-site help anyway, just saying it here for convenience. If it's not there, I'll do a write-up tomorrow. Right now I need sleep.
